Broken Earth: A New Beginning

War. War never changes.

Since the dawn of human kind, when our ancestors first discovered the killing power of rock and bone, blood has been spilled in the name of everything: from God to justice to simple, psychotic rage.

In the year 2077, after millennia of armed conflict, the destructive nature of man could sustain itself no longer. The world was plunged into an abyss of nuclear fire and radiation.

But it was not, as some had predicted, the end of the world. Instead, the apocalypse was simply the prologue to another bloody chapter of human history. For man had succeeded in destroying the world – but war, war never changes.

The year is 2249, and humanity has fought and clawed to try and return to some modicum of the pre-war glory. The Brotherhood and the Enclave have yet to war in the remains of a broken nation’s capital, and Edward Sallow has just begun to whip the eighty-six tribes of Caesar’s Legion into the terrifying force that will become a scourge on the banks of Colorado River.

This is not about their story, but the story of a community in what remains of the Great Midwest Commonwealth. When the bombs fell, a few escaped into underground complexes known as Vaults. Those that didn’t were forced to survive in a landscape that cracked and cried in pain beneath their feet.

A few settlements grew, and even flourished. Out of the ruins of Duluth came the scrapper family that restored trade to the north, and even much further East, the Wright Family. The Axe Tribe has many small bands throughout the North, clinging to a more natural way of existence. Of course, there is also Vault 58, hidden deep inside a forgotten iron mine.

You could be anyone. A sheltered of Vault 58, a scrapper from Wright Town, a tribe member of the Santloose band of the Axe Tribe, or maybe even someone with a different story. The Midwest Commonwealth is massive, and it is near impossible to know all about this broken world. What is known is that you will be tried. You will sweat, strain, bleed, perhaps even die and be laid beneath cracked earth, but your names will be remembered upon the lips of any Wastelander alive to hear.
